Why an EY Stage
Teaching and Learning
Early Years at Great Ouseburn Primary School

This is where the magic begins!

Every day in Early Years is a new adventure. We nurture and encourage the natural curiosity in every individual child, though play, exploration and investigation. Children learn through active play, developing the physical, social and emotional skills they will need for life. It is here that strong friendships are born. Our staff are very skilled in drawing the best out of each child, helping them to be the best they can be.

We follow the Early Years Framework using a child-led approach, responding to their interests at the time. Children can 'free-flow' through the different areas and outside, guided and supported by our amazing staff. Reception children have two discrete sessions a day, on maths and phonics, but otherwise all children access all areas. There are opportunities to develop early reading, writing and maths skills in all areas. Everyone in Dragon Class is always playing and learning!
